'Right To Run' Event

'The Right to Run' is a one day event designed to provide practical support to public sector employees looking to create social enterprises and mutuals through spinning out existing services.

The Government has committed to giving public service employees the right to take over and run their services as social enterprise and mutual spin-outs.

Public sector employees across England are looking to social enterprise and mutuality as a way to have greater control of public services, to innovate and ultimately to deliver better solutions for the people who need them most.

The journey to become a social enterprise is not without challenges. It requires a clear vision, dedication and often a new set of skills and way of thinking. However, social enterprises have also repeatedly demonstrated their ability to transform services, re-engage staff, and deliver services that are better tailored to the needs of each community.

Attendees will be invited to look at the range of options available to public sector staff for transformation, and to explore the social enterprise development journey. There will be workshops on business planning, financial planning, governance and legal forms, stakeholder engagement and moving into new markets.
