Wirral Council- Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities Funding

Wirral Borough Council have announced their Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities funding. The closing date for applications is 20th August.

'This brief is concerned with the commissioning of projects for 'hard to reach' learners aged 19+. Wirral Lifelong and Family Learning Service has an allocation of funding from the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) for revenue projects for Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities (NLDC) for the academic year 2010-2011.'

'£152,700 is available to provide new learning opportunities with a target of 450 learners- it is envisaged that this funding will support in the region of 10 projects ensuring a variety of learner needs and areas are supported.'

'The priority recipients of this fund are VCS organisations engaged in direct delivery of learning or working in partnership with a range of providers that are offering learning through VCS Learning and Skills Consortia, who can provide effective learning and who can enrol and retain harder to reach learners.'

'Preference will be given to partnership working. Progression is important. We are seeking innovative courses that will engage and appeal to new groups of hard to reach learners. The last date for requesting application packs is Monday 16th August. The return date for completed tenders is midday on Friday 20th August 2010.'
