School for Social Entrepreneurs set to expand

The School for Social Entrepreneurs is set to expand both nationally and internationally. The School which has 10 franchises across England and Wales, including one in Liverpool, based in Blackburne House, is seeking to develop following another busy year.

The School for Social Entrepreneurs is planning to extend its services in England and move into Wales, as well as opening schools in New Zealand and Canada.

The school, which provides training for potential social entrepreneurs, operates 10 franchises in England and Scotland, but currently there are none in Wales or in some English regions.

Nick Temple, director of communications at the school, said the programme had grown rapidly in 2009.

The organisation was developing a school in Suffolk and was recruiting staff for it, he said.

'It will open either in December this year or early next year. We've also had provisional discussions with groups in New Zealand, who've started to raise funding, and we've carried out feasibility studies in Canada.'

He added: 'This has been our busiest year so far. We've consolidated this year, but we're looking to grow further in the future.'

Around 200 would-be entrepreneurs are already going through the programme.
