Social Pioneer Summer Academy

Take part in the Social Pioneer Summer Academy, for young people with enterprising ideas, to develop your social enterprise during August.

The Social Pioneer Summer Academy is for young people aged 18-25 who reside in Liverpool and have an idea for a social enterprise. A social enterprise is a business which operates for a social or environmental purpose and impact, and reinvest's its profit to further support its cause and mission.

Launch of the Morgan Foundation Entrepreneur Awards 2010

The Morgan Foundation Entrepreneur Awards 2010 have been launched, with £110,000 in cash prizes and services up for grabs. Now in its fourth year, the awards are open to businesses, entrepreneurs, charities and social enterprises. There are six categories and 14 cash prizes to be won, including one specifically for charities and social enterprises in the Liverpool area.

Get Britain Working

Greater Liverpool Food Alliance- Launch

Greater Liverpool Food Alliance (GLFA) is a project initiated by Liverpool Vision (the development company for Liverpool) and managed by Urbanag CIC, bringing together land owners, property developers, growers, collectors, distributors and food outlets in order to create a network of individuals and organisations engaged in the supply and provision of food within Liverpool and its environs.

Liverpool women's enterprise Train 2000 invited to exhibit at Shanghai Expo

Liverpool based social enterprise Train 2000 have been invited to exhibit at the Shanghai Expo in October as a way of calling for increased support for women setting up their own businesses.

Liverpool is the only city with a presence at the six month long event expected to attract 70m visitors from 140 countries.

Conservative-Lib Dem government axes North West Development Agency

The Coalition Government's emergency budget has outlined plans for the end of the North West Development Agency. Chief Executive Steve Broomhead expects the Agency to close by April 2012.

Work Sustainably: Financial Diversification Workshops

Social Enterprise Network in association with SELNET (Social Enterprise Lancashire Network) is providing four fully-funded workshops for social enterprises across the Merseyside area. A call for applications for the second SENW Mentoring Programme
