Liverpool Transnational Unit in partnership with Stepclever social enterprise, are holding a seminar for social enterprises and other community organisations in the Stepclever area to provide information and advice on transnational funding opportunities at their 'Step Into Europe' event on Friday 26th February 2010.

Consultation on Liverpool City Council CRU Funding Framework

Liverpool City Council's Community Resources Unit (CRU) currently provides nearly £4million a year to voluntary and community sector organisations to deliver local projects for the benefit of local residents. 

Organisations receive three-year grants to deliver these projects. These are invested through a Funding Framework. This guides how the money is invested to meet local needs across five themes:

Are you ready to tender? Health and Safety Compliance

To ensure that you are 100% ready to tender, the Greater Merseyside ChangeUp Tendering and Procurement Support Service (TaPS) has produced a series of Continuing Professional Development Workshops, the next in the series being Health and Safety Compliance to be held on Tuesday 2nd March 2010.

Commissioners need third sector bodies to demonstrate that they have control over health and safety risks and operate within a safe working environment. Future contracts will only be awarded to bodies that evidence safe working practices.

End of Advancement Prototype Event

The Greater Merseyside Advancement Network Prototype are hosting 'Advance', an end of project celebration event on Thursday 18th March 2010 at Blackburne House, Liverpool.

Although the end of the project period is in sight (31st March 2010) this is only the beginning of the active Advancement Network in Greater Merseyside. Over the last year, with your help, the prototype has developed an excellent launching pad for the new Adult Advancement and Careers Service (AACS) here in Greater Merseyside. 

Enterprise UK and the Daily Mail are looking to find the most Enterprising Young Brits

Enterprise UK are seeking young entrepreneurs in the UK under 30 years of age to enter their 'Enterprising Young Brits' competition. It is a celebration, recognition and reward for the hard work and success of young entrepreneurs.

Entrants can enter two of the categories which are listed below and the finalists will be featured in the Daily Mail and invited to an awards ceremony where the winners will receive cash prizes of £1,000.

Ministry of Justice Social Enterprise Conference 2010

The Ministry of Justice is hosting a free one day conference on Thursday 4th March at Novotel St Pancras, London to raise awareness of how social enterprises can work within the justice system.

The Ministry of Justice's National Offender Management Service are running the conference to raise awareness of how development trusts and other social and community enterprises are developing innovative and effective solutions to reduce re-offending.

£500m jobs fund called for in social entrepreneurship manifesto

A group of leading social enterprise leaders and policy makers have called for a jobs fund specifically targeted at getting the long term unemployed into work through social entrepreneurship. The demand forms part of a Social Entrepreneurship Policy Group manifesto which sets out a vision of how the social enterprise movement should look over the next 5 to 15 years.

Social Enterprise Coalition Policy Officer at Liverpool Business School

Olof Jonsdittor (Policy Officer) from the Social Enterprise Coalition will be a guest speaker at Liverpool Business School (Liverpool John Moores University) on the Masters in Social Enterprise Management programme on Wednesday March 3rd from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

The Social Enterprise Coalition has launched its new Manifesto for Social Enterprise entitled, 'No More Business as Usual'. The Manifesto contains a number of suggestions to Government for policies and programmes to assist the social enterprise sector. The manifesto makes a commitment that social enterprises will increase their contribution to the economy by three times up to 2020.
